More Working Families Rely On Public Health Insurance For Their Children

According to several studies, it has been proven that many families rely on Medicaid and CHIP for health insurance. Therefore, many families are concerned with the changes that will come under President-elect Trump and his administration.

However, a recent report issued by Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families said the number of uninsured children in Pennsylvania fell from 147,000 in 2013 to to 111,000 in 2015 — dropping the uninsured rate in that population from 5.2 to 4.1 percent.

It also found that about 46 percent of children nationally were covered by job-based insurance, compared to about 36 percent in Medicaid and CHIP.
