Georgetown CCF Welcomes National Medicaid Expert Andy Schneider to our Team

It is with great pleasure that I am able to share some wonderful news with SayAhhh! readers about the latest addition to our team here at Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families. For Medicaid cognoscenti, Andy Schneider needs no introduction as there are few individuals who are more integral to the development of the Medicaid statute over the past 30 plus years.

But for those of you who don’t know Andy, I will share a few reasons why I am so thrilled to have him join our faculty here at Georgetown University. Andy has been a personal hero and mentor of mine since I first met him in 1994. At that time, Andy was wrapping up a 15-year stint as the Health Counsel for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health and the Environment, where he worked for the legendary Representative Henry Waxman. More recently, since May 2013, Andy served as a senior advisor at the HHS Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services.

Andy is incredibly knowledgeable, smart, and an absolute pleasure to work with. He knows more about the Medicaid program than almost anyone I can think of. Andy will greatly enhance CCF’s ability to conduct policy analysis and research and provide technical assistance to our many partners during these turbulent times that lie ahead for our nation’s system of public coverage.

Andy will begin his work with us during the week of March 1st so stay tuned to SayAhhh! to learn more from him.

Joan Alker is the Executive Director of the Center for Children and Families and a Research Professor at the Georgetown McCourt School of Public Policy.
