President Trump has made it very clear that he wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, by allowing states to have more power and flexibility to decide how they want to go about Medicaid and their healthcare plans in their state in particular. However, this will have many implications – especially for the low-income populations.
“These are low-income populations by definition, so they are going to face challenges by paying a premium,” says Joan Alker, director of Georgetown’s Center on Children and Families. “And if you’re unable to pay that premium, it’s likely because something is going wrong in their life.”
