The Affordable Care Act is expected to provide new coverage options to the 47 million uninsured people in the United States. As a result, an estimated 30 million people are expected to gain health care coverage predominantly through Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the new state health insurance exchanges.
