State Buy-in Programs for Children
There has been growing interest by
states in child buy-in programs, which allow families with incomes in excess of a state's Medicaid/SCHIP eligibility levels to purchase insurance for their children through the public plan. These programs can offer a way for
states to provide children in families with moderate incomes with comprehensive coverage. Two new resources, by CCF and The Urban Institute,
provide insight into the prospects and challenges of these programs.
