Research Assistant
Tara Mancini is a research assistant at the Georgetown Center for Children and Families. It was while serving as a volunteer victim advocate in Rhode Island hospitals, that she first realized the importance of having access to quality health care. Tara recently received her M.A. in Sociology from American University in Washington, D.C., where her work focused on the intersection of race, class and gender. While finishing her graduate work, she had the opportunity to explore her interest in poverty alleviating policies as an intern at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
Tara attended Rhode Island College in her native state, where in 2004 she received a B.A. in Sociology and B.A. in Justice Studies. After graduating, she decided to pursue her background in criminal justice by working at an agency tasked with civilian oversight of law enforcement for the City of New York.
