In an interview with Dan Gorenstein, Joan Alker, the executive director of the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University, talks about the different struggles that the victims of Orlando’s mass shooting have been seeing in regards to paying their medical bills.

“That debt will likely be shifted.”

“Hospitals end up having severe financial problems, [and] they transfer those costs to other pairs in the system: employers buying insurance, employees buying insurance.”
