Meet Melanie Carrigg, who was adopted as a baby, was born with Down syndrome and is deaf. Medicaid covers a lot of her medical needs not covered by her families’ insurance, TRICARE, which is offered to military families like hers.

Melanie’s mother, Austin, explains that without Medicaid, her family would face unmanageable medical expenses or even have to seek care through the Emergency Room. Please watch this video to learn more about how Medicaid has helped Melanie thrive.

About half of Arizona’s Medicaid program is comprised of children. Medicaid makes it possible for families to go to the doctor and get checkups and immunizations, fill prescriptions, and even get life-saving care, when necessary.
