The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is a federal-state partnership that helps families find secure, affordable health care coverage for their children. Originally passed in 1997, CHIP was reauthorized in 2009 to expand eligibility and provide states with additional tools and resources to successfully meet the needs of uninsured children.
