Rebecca Amidon

is an advocate for children and families in North West Michigan serving as a member of the Michigan Northwest Regional Child Care Planning Coalition.

Rebecca Amidon and her husband are parents of 2 small children who have both received early intervention services funded by the Department of Education and Medicaid.

Rebecca has worked in higher education for over 10 years and is currently an adjunct communication professor at Mid Michigan College. She earned her Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Trine University. Rebecca is an advocate for children and families in North West Michigan serving as a member of the Michigan Northwest Regional Child Care Planning Coalition. Rebecca and her family traveled to Washington DC in 2024 to participate in Strolling Thunder where they were able to speak directly to Michigan lawmakers about the national childcare crisis.

Rebecca feels it is important to share her family’s experience with early intervention programs, because through these programs their son was able to receive speech therapy and her daughter has learned to walk and receive vital testing to better understand and diagnose her ataxia. She hopes that in sharing their family’s experience with these programs, others will understand the importance of keeping funding available for other children who need access to care.
