MACPAC Warms To Extending Coverage For Postpartum Beneficiaries

The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission signaled Thursday (Feb. 27) that it is warming up to the idea of recommending that Congress pass a bill extending Medicaid for up to one year for beneficiaries who just had a baby. However, the commission still has lingering questions about the bill’s price tag.

Commissioner Tricia Brooks said it would be helpful for CMS to issue guidance in this area for states, as well as guidance on how states could target certain populations within pregnant or postpartum beneficiaries.
