On July 29, 2014, leaders of the Senate Finance Committee and House Committee on Energy and Commerce sent a letter to all 50 governors asking for their input on the future of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). The letter asked six questions, including whether or not governors support extending CHIP funding and any recommendations they have to improve CHIP and children’s coverage. As of December 5, 2014, 42 governors (23 Republicans, 19 Democrats) have responded to this inquiry. A summary of the letters’ findings can be found here.
