Low-Wage Worker Fact Sheet Methodology

Mississippi Methodology:
All Georgetown CCF analysis is derived from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) data. The data in this report come from two ACS sources:

  1. 2019 Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS), a two-thirds sample of the full ACS data file. All data points in this sample were collected in calendar year 2019. Files are available for download from census.gov FTP platform.
  2. 2015-2019 Five Year Detailed Tables, tables preprepared by the US Census Bureau based on the full ACS data file. Data points in this sample were collected over the five years and aggregated to produce more reliable estimates for small geographies. These tables are used to estimate county-level trends. Tables are available on data.census.gov.

Georgetown CCF calculates the coefficient of variation (CV; also known as the relative standard error) for each estimate. Estimates with CVs greater than 25% are not presented in this analysis.

CCF analyses of top occupations and industries are based on all respondents ages 19-64. For more information on how the Census Bureau defines and classifies occupation and industry, as well as what occupations fit into each occupational category and industry sector, see “Industry and Occupation Code Lists and Crosswalks.” Gender analysis is based on the Census Bureau’s classification of “female” and “male” (listed on the ACS as sex) which may not be reflective of all gender identities.
