The Latino population faces continuous issues when it comes to enrolling or renewing health insurance and is thus one of the most uninsured populations in the United States. National Council of La Raza (NCLR) experts state that bilingual materials, the availability of knowledgable navigators and financial help would improve Latino enrollment in health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). According to a recent joint Georgetown University/NCLR report, despite Hispanic children being the least insured, nearly two-thirds are eligible for coverage via Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). In order for bring down the high rate of uninsurance among this population, it is important to have the resources to provide Latinos with information and assistance with enrollment.
