Fewer Utah Children Uninsured In 2015, But State Still Lagging Behind National Average

According to the new report by Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families, the number of uninsured Utah children went from 85,000 to 65,000 between 2013 to 2015. This has been largely attributed to the Affordable Care Act, but April Young Bennett, the spokeswoman for Voices for Utah, mentioned that the progress would be even better with Medicaid expansion.

In 2015, 7.2 percent of Utah kids — or 65,000 — were uninsured, down from 9.5 percent — or 85,000 — in 2013, according to a recent report from Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families.
