Arkansas’ Medicaid expansion was a very successful model for Republican states to follow, but now that Congress wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Joan Alker (executive director of Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families), said that it would reverse Arkansas’ approach completely.

“If there’s a partial repeal, with no replace plan in the same bill, Arkansas’s approach is essentially eliminated,” Joan Alker, executive director of the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families, told The Hill Extra.
“So even if [congressional Republicans] delay the date, the [expansion] money goes away, Arkansas faces [a] challenge because the marketplaces will encounter problems much more quickly,” Alker said.
