What Happens If GOP Health-Care Bill Freezes Medicaid? Possibly The Same Thing That Happened In Arizona Before

Arizona’s Medicaid expansion will be removed as of 2020 because of the House Republican bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act. This bill will also reduce the subsidies that aided lower-income Americans to gain health coverage, therefore, there will be a decrease in Americans with health insurance overall.

“It looks like the Medicaid expansion could wither on the vine,” said Joan Alker, executive director at the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University. Alker said Arizona has familiarity with what could happen to Medicaid, because Arizona put a similar stop to AHCCCS enrollment once before.
