Georgetown’s Alker: House Medicaid Plan ‘Worst I’ve Seen’

The Florida House has developed a Medicaid plan that includes co-pays and work requirements, because Florida is spending 1/3 of their $82 billion budget on Medicaid, and they want to reduce that spending.

“This bill…is one of the worst pieces of legislation I’ve seen in a long time,” she says. She’s worried children, which make up the majority of Medicaid enrollees will begin to lose coverage under a plan by the Florida House’s health and human services committee. At issue: plans to impose work requirements, and premium co-pays.
