Advocates are worried that about 27,000 Missouri children are at risk of losing their health care coverage if Congress fails to renew funding for a bipartisan program enacted under the Clinton administration.

“This is very troubling that Congress hasn’t gotten this done,” said Joan Alker, executive director of the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University.
“States have wasted time and money and energy because they have to prepare,” Alker said. “They can’t move on a dime.”
