The number of uninsured children nationwide increased by about 276,000 children last year, the first significant increase in a decade, according to a new report released by the Georgetown University Center for Children and Families. That represents a slight increase in the overall children’s uninsured rate, from 4 to 4.4 percent. The percentage of uninsured black children increased significantly during the same time period, from 1.5 percent to 4 percent.
