Report: Texas has 2nd highest uninsured rate for children

AUSTIN — A new university analysis has Texas ranked second among states with the highest uninsured rate for children.

According to the study, the rest of the nation is at a historic low, down at 6 percent of children, or 4.4 million children, after the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, was implemented in 2014.

“Despite the widespread decline, some states saw more improvements than others,” said Joan Alker, an author of the report with the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute.
