Repealing the Affordable Care Act would leave 371,000 Nevadans without healthcare coverage by 2019. In addition, according to the report by Urban Institute, approximately 59 million Americans would be left without health coverage by 2019. The executive director of the Children’s Advocacy Alliance in Nevada added that, on top of this, Nevada would also be losing more than $1 billion in Medicaid and CHIP funding. Actually, the research mentioned that Nevada could lose more than $16 billion in federal funding over the next decade.

Joan Alker, executive director of the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University, wants Congress to carefully consider the consequences of a hasty repeal. “We need our congressional leaders to do the hard work of negotiating a replacement plan before they simply create chaos by repealing what’s in place,” she states.
